Stress Care Course – 2024 –

I am Omatsu, a member of the Business Management Department, and I will be writing this blog post. This time, I will be giving a free introduction about the “Stress Care Course” that I took on June 21st.

Course Contents

There are various causes of social problems in Japan, such as insomnia and dementia, but everyone has stress, and it is an inseparable problem.
In the past, it was said that “colds are the root of all diseases,” but nowadays it is said that “stress is the root of all diseases,” and if you continue to hold stress for a long time, it will cause mental and physical illnesses, so you must take care of your stress. In addition, stress is not only a problem for adults, but also for children, and it has become a major social problem.

“Dementia, infectious diseases, stress, mind care” These can be prevented with aromatherapy, and it has recently begun to attract attention in Japan.

① Stress also affects the body
The autonomic nervous system consists of the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems, and this balance is important. The sympathetic nervous system is active during the day, while the parasympathetic nervous system is active when you are sleeping or relaxing. Stress is one of the causes of this imbalance.

External stimuli are called stressors, and if the stressor is too strong, it can cause mental and physical disorders. There are many types of stressors, but the biggest problem in modern times is psychological and social stressors. It is necessary to develop the ability to respond to these differences and diversity in thinking.

It is also important to know how to release the stress you receive. Examples of ways to release stress include traveling and eating, but these methods of release are no longer possible due to the coronavirus pandemic, and aromatherapy has begun to be reconsidered as a way to relieve stress. In Japan, it is thought of as a miscellaneous item, but in Europe, it is in every household’s medicine cabinet, like Oronine in Japan.

② We actually experienced the aroma!
There are some points to keep in mind when smelling the aroma.

  1. Sit on a chair or sit cross-legged with your back straight.
  2. Close your eyes and inhale through your nose (4 seconds).
  3. Hold your breath (4 seconds).
  4. Exhale slowly through your mouth (6 seconds).
Repeat this for 5 minutes. When you are stressed, you tend to breathe shallowly without realizing it, so consciously take deep breaths to relax your muscles and prepare your body.

Measure against stress by choosing an aroma that suits your purpose, such as improving your concentration, balancing your female hormones, feeling energized, or relaxing!

Summary

After taking the last sleep course, my interest in aromas has grown, so I was personally very much looking forward to this stress care course. By taking this course, I learned that aromas are good for stress. What surprised me most about the course content was that stress can also be prevented. I received a lavender aroma mist as a gift this time, and I spray it on my pillow before going to sleep. Thanks to the aroma mist, I was able to relax and I am less irritated than before. I would like to continue to actively incorporate aromas in the future so that I can reduce stress.

Please look forward to the next blog!
